What is Global Mobile?

GLOBAL MOBILE is a project of ITVS International (an initiative of the Independent Television Service) and iThentic, an online and mobile video content company. This project brings together the commissioned short films of eight international award-winning filmmakers, selected for their innovative visual talents and interest in creating for this new format. The collection of short films will be presented as an anthology series – GLOBAL MOBILE – on a variety of platforms including www.globalmobileproject.com, www.itvs.org, and www.ithentic.com as well as a showcase at international film festivals.

GLOBAL MOBILE has invited filmmakers to create a short film within the broad parameters of a single theme – FOOD – with the intention that the directors will interpret this theme within their own cultural context as broadly or narrowly as they wish. A celebration of food; an inquiry into farming practices; an examination of food scarcity; the obesity epidemic, the politics of genetically modified "GM" food, etc... the challenge is to tell a story in a compelling manner in under three minutes for the third screen.
